Brighton-based Freelance Developer

Interactive / Experiential

OpenFrameworks, Processing, Arduino, Houdini, JavaScript...

Installations for galleries, museums, parks and other public spaces; including the V&A, National Portrait Gallery, Bestival, EMF festival, the BFI, Cleveland Museum of Art and the Science Museum. Music videos and live visuals for major acts you've probably heard of, and FX for a Disney film you probably haven't. I have stories.

Games

Engines: Unreal, Unity and, back in the day, Flash. I approach these platforms as a coder (C++, C#), so please shout if you need sophisticated behaviours, complex integrations or impossible hacks. Just don't ask me to light a scene.

Web

Front end and back end. JavaScript, HTML, CSS on the front, mainly PHP/MySQL or node.js on the back. More than full-stack, I specialise in getting taciturn technologies to talk to each other. I also like working with data-scientists and API mashing.

Design / Management / Creative

I've had Creative Technologist as my job title for much of the last decade. This means that, as well as building stuff, I've been involved in ideation, creative direction, UX, product design, scoping, pitch work, consultancy and mentorship. I've also led development teams and ran my own projects.

Awards

4x BIMAs, 3x MUSE awards, 1x DiMAS award, Finalist for Cannes Design Lions, AIMIA Innovation award and Create Design Project of the Year. Runner up for an Interactive BAFTA, when they were still a thing. Possibly others I don't know about.

In 2010 I wrote a best-selling programming book.

... and I also do databases.
